Sonora Christmas Day Parade
God willing, we will participate in the 2022 Sonora Christmas parade. The them for our entry is "An Ancient Christmas Celebration" and will focus on traditional Orthodox worship.
We will meet in front of Sonora Highschool at Shaws Flat Rd. at 4:00 PM. We will stage our procession in the Highschool parking lot near Snell and School St.
We will line up and process down Washington St. through downtown Sonora. Clery and servers will lead with the icon of the Nativity of our Lord in the Flesh and banners followed by the faithful singing the troparion and kontakion of the Nativity. We will hold electronic candles (these will be provided) as fire is not allowed in the parade. I encourage our participants to wear red as it is a traditional color for the fast. Clergy will wear a red phelonion while servers will wear red vestments. Please expect to dress warm and be prepared for light rain/drizzle.
The sheet music for the Troparion can be downloaded HERE.
The sheet music for the Kontakion can be downloaded HERE.
The sheet music for the Canon odes 1 through 3 can be downloaded HERE.
Additional details for the parade can be read HERE.
